R&D Scientist in Process Development Code: Pacific NW (low cost of living!) Location: Call Us Job Description: Work extensively with customers by leading customer projects, designing customer plant trials, and delivering commercially viable solutions in partnership with customers. Develop new process methods to further characterize existing and new products and to provide new manufacturing capability to the business. Develop and apply new theories to the company’s products/processes, applications and/or trials to create advanced, innovative new products and processes that drive competitive advantage and market leadership for the company. Drive NPD through to commercialization end-points, i.e. add additional margin and profit to the company’s bottom line. Educate sales and marketing staff on product portfolio/applications and/or processes through formal training, correspondence on specific issues and research on concerns. Develop creative new technology through laboratory and pilot plant experimentation which provides technical advantage in dairy and nutrition technology. Collect, read, compile, utilize and synthesize ideas and methods from existing literature, experts, files and publications. Supervise the function of analytical, applications, or pilot lab. . Requirements: * Must possess a PhD with 2 years experience or MS with a minimum of seven years experience in product and process development. Ideally related to dairy products or functional ingredients. * Degrees in Food Science, Food Engineering, ChemE, Chemistry and related. * A proven track record in food research with the ability to apply fundamental scientific principles in developing and improving products. * Ability to lead a research project team and to drive through to commerciality. * Must have strong ability to design experiments so that appropriate statistical analysis, interpretation and publication in high quality scientific journals can be accomplished. * Must have indepth knowledge of instruments and pilot processing equipment. * Must be able to scale projects from pilot plant to full, commercial scale. .
