Career Guide
The Importance of Proper AttireMaking the best possible impression is paramount when seeking employment. Even though we would like to think that our skills and abilities get us the job - appearance does count. First impressions are made within the first 5 minutes of meeting someone. Either you make a good impression or you suffer the consequences. NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) surveyed 457 employers who recruit new college graduates and an overwhelming 92 percent stated, "A candidate's overall appearance influences their opinion about the candidate." In other words, when meeting potential employers, if you want the job, dress appropriately. Writing Thank You Letters
Writing a thank you letter, or note, after an employment interview is a must. In fact, some employers think less of those interviewees who fail to follow-up promptly. Plan to send out your thank you letters as soon as possible (preferably within twenty-four hours, no later than a week) after your interview.
